FAQ's

  • What am I doing?
I am pursuing a master’s degree in divinity for Moody Theological Seminary. You can find the breakdown for the career and the estimated completion plan here. My planned graduation date is in the spring of 2020

  • How am I doing it?

I will be studying using Moody’s Online Distance Learning Platform, meaning that I will take most of my lessons online.

  • Are you going to have to move to Chicago?

Not as of right now, unless the Lord has other plans. I will take most of my classes online. There is an option to take some courses with a week of residency in their Chicago campus. That is an option I would like to take, but that is still at least a year in the future.

  • How will you pay for it?

At first, I was planning to pay everything out of pocket. But God has other Plans. He has asked me to lay down my pride and ask for help covering my tuition. You can find all the information regarding this expenses and how you can help here.

  • But, aren’t you working?

Yes, I am. I work for a business consultancy company in Miramar as their Sales and Marketing Specialist.

  • And, Can’t you get a second job?
No, I legally can’t get a second Job. I’m currently in the USA under an H1-B Visa that allows me to work for just the employer that sponsors me. All other work is illegal.

  • Why do you have so many expenses/debt?

During the last 3 years, I have undergone extensive Dental Restorative work, necessary to bring my dental health back to some resemblance of health. This has been very expensive, and I have had to take out several medical loans to cover the procedures. Also, late last year I broke a toe and had other unexpected medical and personal expenses.

That means that right now, all the money not going to pay for my bills is being diverted to pay for the Loans.

If you have any questions, Please let me know! I will be happy to answer them and even add them to this list!

  • How well are you managing your finances?

Great question! Right now I am working and the money I have left after paying bills is going towards paying for tuition, books, and paying down my debt.

I am blessed to be able to live with my mom, which significantly decreases the number of bills I have to pay, and gives me a great time because…hello! Living with your mom is AWESOME! (or at least living with my mom is)

Each month I create a Zero-based budget and allocate all the money to a certain category. Right now, because of my current expenses and loan payment completion, I have had to stop my Emergency fund at $500. Later on, I will try to bring it back to the ideal $1000 mark.

Apart from that, I have cut all unnecessary expenses of my life and focus solely on paying bills and debt.

  • How can I help?

Well, first by Praying! Praying allows us to do the supernatural in this natural world. If, after praying, God moves you to do something material, here are some ways you can help.

Be on the look out for a special blog post dedicated to praying and worship, where I will share some requests, praise reports and prompts for you to share with me your prayers, so we can all be part of this great family.
